TAOS, NM (August 12, 2002)-Soliciting participation from a wide
cross section of our diverse community, local performers Daena Giardella
and Wren Ross will present "One Year Later
Taos Remembers
September 11" 7:30 pm at the Taos Center for the Arts.
This heartfelt evening of remembrance for all ages will feature
stories, artistic expressions and music from members of the community
woven together with performances by Ms. Giardella and Ms. Ross.
This gathering gives the Taos community an opportunity to respond
through their own memories, poems, and creations to the life-altering
events of September 11. As a director and acting coach, Ms. Giardella
is most interested in creating "an aesthetic, soulful and meaningful
living theatre experience." Those interested in being part
of the production are encouraged to call her at 505-776-9736.
"Daena and I were here on September 11 and shared the experience
of the tragedy with our neighbors and extended Taos family,"
says Wren Ross. "The events at the Plaza and Kit Carson Park
were incredibly moving and we thought it would be fitting to bring
everyone together again to help us bridge the experiences we've
all had since."
"This is our way to help keep memories and stories alive,"
says Ms. Giardella. "We, the people, are the story-keepers.
It's important that we make sense of the senseless by telling the
story of what happened and who we are. Stories heal and reveal us.
We are sounding the drum. Calling our neighbors together to share
their experiences. Let's hear the Taos story."
